SR

Somchai Rattanachai

Bangkok, 52 · Foundations course

"I spent twenty-five years as an engineer and I understood nothing about my own money beyond my monthly salary. The Foundations course was the first time someone actually explained what a savings account is really doing with my money. The language was clear and nothing felt condescending."

Patcharee Khamwong

Bangkok, 47 · Planning Ahead

"The Planning for the Years Ahead course gave me a much clearer picture of what the Thai pension system actually provides and what gap I would need to fill myself. The mid-point review with Kriangkrai was particularly useful — he asked good questions rather than just telling me things."

David Lim

Bangkok (expat), 55 · Mentorship

"As a Singapore national who has been in Bangkok for twelve years, I needed someone who could explain Thai financial instruments alongside my existing knowledge. The mentorship gave me exactly that — a chance to think through my situation specifically, not follow a generic template."

Nanthida Thongkam

Nonthaburi, 44 · Foundations

"I was nervous about joining because I felt quite embarrassed about how little I knew. That did not last long. The group was small and Praew created an environment where basic questions did not feel strange at all. I only wish the course was a bit longer — I was sad when it ended."

Wanchai Prasertsom

Bangkok, 58 · Planning Ahead

"I am retiring in three years and had been putting off thinking about the details. After eight weeks with Panya Wealth I have a folder of worksheets that actually describe my situation, plus a much better understanding of what my provident fund will and will not cover. I left feeling ready to have a real conversation with a financial planner."

Malee Nakarin

Bangkok, 49 · Mentorship

"Napat built the whole mentorship around my situation — which is complicated because I have freelance income, rental income, and I am partly supporting my mother. The written summary she gave me at the end is something I have referred back to several times since. It is not financial advice, but it is very clear thinking."

Three Experiences in Detail

Names and identifying details have been adjusted with permission.

Moving from Avoidance to Understanding

The Situation

A 46-year-old teacher from Samut Prakan had avoided looking at her finances for years — she knew her monthly income covered her expenses but had no sense of her overall picture. She had a provident fund through her employer but had never opened the annual statement.

What She Did

She joined the Foundations course, completed all four evening sessions, and revisited the recordings twice. The self-reflection exercise at the start helped her identify that her main anxiety was not knowing, rather than any specific financial problem.

After the Course

By the end of the four sessions she had read and understood her provident fund statement for the first time. She went on to join the Planning for the Years Ahead programme the following cohort. "I did not realise the statement actually told you everything you needed to know."

Getting Ready for a Real Conversation with an Adviser

The Situation

A 53-year-old business owner from central Bangkok had been to see a financial adviser twice but left both meetings feeling confused. He understood that he should be planning for retirement but did not have the background knowledge to evaluate what the adviser was suggesting.

What He Did

He completed the Planning for the Years Ahead programme over eight weeks, attending all eight evening sessions and completing the one-to-one review with his educator. The sessions on RMF and LTF products were particularly relevant given what his adviser had previously proposed.

After the Course

He went back to his adviser three months later and describes the conversation as completely different. "I could ask sensible questions and I understood the answers. That made all the difference." He has since made changes to his retirement savings approach with the support of his adviser.

Untangling a Complex Financial Situation

The Situation

A 51-year-old freelance architect with rental properties, irregular income, and aging parents she was supporting financially needed help thinking through her situation as a whole. The group course format did not suit her well — she needed something built around her specific circumstances.

What She Did

She joined the Considered Portfolio Mentorship over three months, meeting with Napat six times. Each session worked through a different aspect of her situation — income variability, property considerations, family obligations, and longer-term planning scenarios.

After the Programme

The written summary at the end gave her a structured way to present her situation to a licensed adviser, who she met within a month of completing the mentorship. She described the mentorship as "six conversations that helped me see my own life more clearly."
